What
is NDPC?
North Dakota Professional
Communicators is an organization of men and women employed in
all aspects of communications newspapers, public relations,
education, magazines, television, radio, publishing, advertising,
photography and freelance.
NDPC is committed
to achieving:
- the
active and thoughtful advancement of the communications profession,
- a
statewide network for the vibrant exchange of ideas, and
-
recognition and evaluation for the outstanding work of its members.
NDPC
is affiliated with the National
Federation of Press Women, an organization of communication
professionals from across the United States. Each state affiliate
operates under its own bylaws and officers, with full access to
the strength and direction of the national organization.
What
does NDPC do?
North Dakota Professional
Communicators:
- Holds an annual
convention in the spring and workshops in different regions
of the state during the year. These statewide events offer professional
development and networking.
- Conducts a communications
contest annually for members. First place winners are forwarded
to national competition where NDPC members consistently excel.
- Publishes a quarterly
newsletter called Type-Hi. Members receive additional information
through NFPW publications.
- Grants scholarships
to college students studying communications.
- Provides financial
support to NDPC members for individual professional development.
- Sponsors a communications
contest for college students.
- Hosts regular meetings
in some regions of the state for learning and sharing.
- Honors a member
every other year as a Communicator of Achievement.
- Cooperates with
other professional organizations such as the North Dakota Newspaper
Association, International Association of Business Communicators
and Northern Interscholastic Press Association.
- Educates students
and others about First Amendment rights and responsibilities.
- Communicates with
professionals across the country and benefits from services
through NFPW.
