NFPW 2003 High School Communications Contest Winners

The National Federation of Press Women honors the work of high school journalism students through its annual high school communications contest. In the contest, students may enter work in editorial, feature, review, news, sports, column, feature photo, cartooning, single page layout or graphics categories to earn awards in each category.

Four North Dakota student journalists received awards in the national contest sponsored by NFPW. The work of nine student journalists who received first place awards in the state contest sponsored by NDPC was forwarded to the national competition. Four of these students received the national awards.

They are:
First Place, Sports Story: Mike Mullen, Century High School, Bismarck
Second Place, Feature Story: Shayna Melgaard, Bismarck High School
Second Place, Columns: Amanda King, Bismarck High School
Honorable Mention, Sports Photo: Mitch Hoesel, Mandan High School
