NDPC 2009 Communications Contest Winners

Media professionals from across North Dakota and Minnesota were honored at the 2009 North Dakota Professional Communicators awards banquet Saturday, May 2, in Minot, N.D. Members were honored for their best work in print media, photography, advertising, writing for and development of the Web, promotion, public relations, marketing, speeches and books.

Sweepstakes winners are Martin Fredricks, West Fargo, first; Karen Stensrud, Fargo, second; and Linda Sailer, Dickinson, third.

Fredricks, owner of Fredricks Communications, is a writer, creative director and strategic communication planner. Stensrud is vice president of marketing at State Bank and Trust. Sailer is lifestyle editor at the Dickinson Press.

The awards banquet was held in conjunction with NDPC’s annual conference. NDPC is the state affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, an organization of communication professionals from across the United States. NDPC is an organization of women and men employed in all aspects of communication: newspapers, public relations, education, magazines, television, radio, publishing, advertising, photography and freelance.

Seventy-two first-place NDPC entries will advance to the federation’s national competition. Individual winners at the state level were:
