2020 Communicator of Achievement Danielle Teigen


Danielle Teigen with COA awardDanielle Teigen has been selected as the 2020 Communicator of Achievement (COA) by the North Dakota Professional Communicators (NDPC). The COA is the highest honor NDPC can bestow upon one of its members. It is presented annually to a member of NDPC and the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) who has distinguished him or herself within and beyond his or her profession.
 
Teigen advances to the national NFPW competition, where COA judging is based on professional achievement, community service and service to NFPW and NDPC. She will be recognized at a virtual awards banquet on June 6.
 
Teigen served as deputy editor of the Forum since 2015 and is the author of two non-fiction local history books, including “Hidden History of Fargo” and “The Fargo Fire of 1893.” She is currently in the process of transitioning to a part-time role with Forum Communications where she will manage the organization’s bi-monthly magazine focused on parenting and motherhood. She has previously served as a communications and marketing manager for the Fargo-Moorhead West Fargo Chamber, a senior communications strategist for Ulteig Engineers, Inc., managing editor of Bison Illustrated Magazine and associate editor of Publication Services of America.
 
A devoted volunteer in her community, Teigen has served on several boards of directors and volunteers for several non-profit organizations, including Hope Blooms and the NDSU Communications Department Advisory Board. Teigen was a session leader for the 35 Under 35 Women’s Leadership Program, a communications and marketing volunteer for Leadercast Fargo-Moorhead and a community investment panelist and campaign account executive for United Way of Cass-Clay. She has served as a moderator for Strong Women, Strong Coffee, a program offered by the North Dakota Women’s Business Center focused on female empowerment from 2019-2020.
 
Teigen has been a dedicated NDPC member since 2014. She has served on the board of directors in several capacities including Third Vice President of College Contests, President and Immediate Past President. She has been instrumental in facilitating relationships with North Dakota colleges and universities through the scholarship selection committee and college contest. She has also helped plan two annual conferences, including one that featured a national digital marketing expert that brought the largest attendance the organization has seen to date.
