Minot Area Professional Communicators provides programs at monthly meetings September through November and January through May for NDPC’s northwest district. MAPC includes NDPC members and other communication professionals in public relations, marketing, news, education and freelance journalism in the Minot area and the counties of Bottineau, Burke, Divide, McHenry, McKenzie, McLean, Mountrail, Renville, Sheridan, Ward and Williams.

Jan. 28, 2021 — Remote work in the new normal (and what it means to communicate in the world of Commerce)

Maria Effertz Hanson has worked remotely since before it gained pandemic popularity and will share the ups and downs as well as tips for remote success. As a remote worker, she will explain how she makes it all come together with projects she has been working on with the Commerce Department. She also will give us the inside scoop about the current and upcoming programs at the North Dakota Department of Commerce.

About the Speaker

Maria Effertz Hanson is the Community and Economic Development Lead with the North Dakota Department of Commerce. She works with the Main Street Program, ED&F developers and state liaison for community development programming. Prior to joining Commerce in April 2020, Maria worked in marketing and external relations for engineering and oil and gas development.

Maria has degrees in public relations, political science and management. Maria is from and currently lives near Velva, has two kids, two horses, one dog and too many cats to count.
